Even before Tito Ortiz lost his fight to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira this past Saturday at UFC 140, The ‘former’ Huntington Beach Bad Boy had expressed interest in another fight with Forrest Griffin. The two warriors have already met twice in the Octagon, each picking up a win leaving the series tied at one win a piece. After the loss to Lil Nog, Tito said he has one figth left on his UFC contract and he would love for it to be against Griffin.
Late Sunday night in Las Vegas, the MMA Fight Corner caught up with Forrest Griffin and asked him his thoughts on a possible third match up with Ortiz. Here’s what the former LHW Champion had to say.
“If people would pay to see that fight, I’ll get paid to fight that fight. I care more about where the fight is; I don’t travel well. If that fight happens in the continental United States, I’m down!”
Griffin is coming off a knockout loss to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua this past August at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The loss came less then a week before Forrest and his wife became parents for the very first time.
“If anything, for me now, I’m realizing that I don’t have much left. This is the end of the road for me. I want a couple of more fight fights, you know, good ones! Fights were I don’t get knocked out in the first round. Fights were I get hurt and bleed a little but I kinda rally back. Something of that nature. As far as a fight with Tito, yeah it would be good but do people want to see it.”
No word yet on whether the fight will be made but if it is, Forrest Griffin is game. As long as it happens in the good old U.S.A.
